  1. Hi

Bought this player and yes, it plays divx with sub-files. This player is on sale in Norway, 1299.- Nkr. ($185).

Strange, but a search at Pioneers website for DV-2850s returns "no match". Tried to search before buying to check if the ad was correct.

Only testet it last night and so far it seems like a great player. Better than LGs latest try, Philips latest, and Kiss (DP-450).

    Hey!

If you want to watch a DivX movie with more than a subtitle file how do you do it? Put two different subtitle files, in different formats, .sub and .srt?

    Will this work?

Isn't it strange that the manual refers that the player supports files in the .sub, .srt, .ssa and .ssi format but also states that a file can only have as much as 10 subtitle files!!! How?

I just want to use my english and portuguese subtitles in .sub format without having to convert one of them.

Is it possible? To use two files with the same format for the same movie?

    Thank you.

Trimegisto - This should be possible. The name of the files is not important. If you have an English sub file and a Portuguese sub file, you can name one "eng.sub" and the other "port.sub". It is NOT a requirement of any DVD player that plays DivX (as far as I know) that the subtitle files have the same name as the movie. For example, your disc could have in it:
    movie.avi
    eng.sub
    port.sub
This will allow you to select either subtitle file.

Sorry jman97, but you are mistaken.

I have a Pioneer DV-380, great machine by the way, very similar to the DV-2850 because the manual is the same.

The manual clearly states that the subtitle file has to be the same as the movie file.

I've had problems even with caps, something that never happened on the PC using Power DVD. Example:

    Matrix Revolutions.avi
    matrix revolutions.avi

This will work fine on the PC but not on the DV-380.

I'll have to convert all the files. No prob, subtitle workshop will do the trick, I guess.

    Anyway, thank you.
