ok you tell me...
my pc: AMD 2400+
768Mb DDR333 RAM
Windows XP SP2
Dvico HDTV DVB-T
Geforce Ti 4400
my setup: (video only, i have no problem with sound so i won't mention it) Foxtel digital set top box connected via Scart to S-Video in of Dvico card (analogue in). S-Video out from Geforce card to S-Video in of TV.
my software/codecs:
K-Lite Codec pack 2.52 Full (installed with default settings)
Dvico FusionHDTV3.0.01Web.exe + Hotfix30003.exe
my goal: to capture the video from the S-Video in using a program that has a scheduler (like a timer on a vcr) and later play it on the pc and watch it on the tv like i do with movies.
my problem: there is no software that can do this well.
i have used about 7 or 8 programs now in an attempt to do what should be a simple task. the closest i have come to a decent result was with a program called WinVDR. it captured in Xvid with great quality but the program caused all sorts of things to happen ie: the computer would reboot for no reason during capture, it would capture for 2 hours and when the file was played back it was only 45 minutes long and the audio cut out after 8 seconds. (these happened seveal times all using the Xvid codec) other codecs gave poor quality video.
so i am just about to kick the crap out of my computer. i am so frustrated. every forum i read praises programs like Chris Tv, but i found it to be useless for my needs. other programs like GBPVR didn't even recognise my analogue input.
i just want to use my pc like a VCR and record from the analogue input the easiest way possible with a reasonable quality result. is this possible with my setup? if so how?
thanks in advance.

To the computer, installing the codec pack was like swallowing a gallon of strychnine.

I don't know anything about your set up so can't help there but I can tell you that I have a Hauupage 150 video card and use Beyond TV to schedule, record, and playback TV and it works well.
Actually I have 3 cards in one computer so I can record three shows at once. I won't claim it's perfect, right now I'm trying to figure out why I occasionally files with size zero, but it is not too often. -

Looks like at least one person is able to capture analog TV with that card:
