I recently had some problems with incompatible RAM that caused me to reinstall Windows MCE 2005 (it said I had a corrupt system file). The system recovery CD that came with the system tried to overwrite and reinstall the original installation, but it kept crashing. It also gave me a option to install the operating system in a different folder, which I thought was my only choice, so i did successfully.

I ended up successfully reinstalling the operating system later over top of the original installation in the original windows folder. However, whenever the system boots up now, it asks me "please select operating system to start" and lists two Windows XP MCE2005 options, one for each install I guess.

Does anyone know how to uninstall the second operating system in the other folder. The boot up used to progress automatically to the windows screens, but now is interrupted by the screen asking for which one to start.

    Thanks.

  2. There is no way to uninstall an OS, the way you want. (ie. like Add/Remove Programs) You would have to delete or reformat the partion which the OS is on and start from scratch.

For the choose the OS prompt, you could edit the boot.ini file then remove one of the options. If there is only one option within the boot.ini it should boot to it by default. Please do some research before messing with theh boot.ini file.
