  1. When I convert a dvd rip in divx format to dvd the picture will get slightly jerky on shots that require lots of information ( panning camera or fast moving scenes). It is only a very slight jerk but very annoying. It is not media ( tried 10 different kinds), It only does it on any stand alone ( computer it is fine). I convert with TMPGenc using a guide from this site. I authur with TMPGEnc. I use 2 pass vbr and have tried all different combo's of max\min bitrate. I burn with Nero.
Is this just something that is lost when compressed and something I have to live with? Am I doing something wrong? Is it a ram issue (512 ).
Hopefully I gave enough info. Thank you in advance. Again, It is only a very slight jerkiness and I have tried over 20 divx's Pal and NTSC.

    Like Lord Smurf Said!!!

Seriously though, a divx of a movie, and I don't really care how you obtained these, will NEVER be as good as the original DVD. Then you are attempting to remake them back to DVD. Results are what you are experiencing. If you insist on the divx/xvid format, get yourself one of the several DVD players that will ply these formats directly to your TV. You can then burn several of these onto a regular DVD-R disc and you will get to watch them on your TV. They will suffer any further any firther quality losses by keeping them in the AVI format you now have them in. VSO DivxToDVD will take a AVI ( Divx or Xvid ) and make a playable dvd for you. No menus just the movie. It's a single button clip and then you come back and burn the VIDEO_TS folder to DVD.
For best results, learn to back up to DVD from an original disc.

I had the same problem with jerky picture in some not all of the avi files i converted for dvd, the problem was that these movies were encoded at 23 fps and because i live in pal land i needed them top play back at 25 fps. I would suggest that you download DIKO, there is a free trial, it will take 23fps and convert to 25fps or vice versa depending on whether you configure it for pal or ntsc. This solved all of the problems i had with jerky playback.
    Hope this helps, peace.
