If you are adding the vobs as files then you will get errors, add as dvd-video if they are authored.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

TDA will cut out the parts you don't want. No need to use another app. Perhaps Mpgcut2 is introducing the problem. Try using TDA to take the VOB's (Use the "DVD Video" button to import the entire movie) to DVD.

  4. I think that is what I need to do is let tmpge work the vob and save as mpegs instead of using Mpgcut2 to do that. It had been working okay before and then started this. I like Mpgcut2 just because it is easy to use and seem pretty fast. Anyway thanks for the help.

TDA will work but i would suggest VideoRedo for multiple cuts of same film and then reauthor back with TDA.

I'm wondering why you'd want to turn the VOBs back to mpeg just to cut them? Why not let TDA cut the VOBs directly during the re-authoring process? KISS, remember?

  8. Well Im putting all the mpegs into a directory then picking out all the christmas's or thanksgivings etc..
and authoring them to a dvdr. It enables me to see all the file sizes and put as much as I can on a dvdr in a group of comman activitys. Im just loading any vhs tapes and dumping them to dvdrw's the dumping the erasing them and going to the next tape. Im no expert just using what I have to work with. Thanks

Buick, that's my point. As long as you're converting it all to DVD in the first place, why not just use TDA to edit out the parts you don't want and add the menus for the re-authoring? Why convert to DVD then back to mpeg2 then back to DVD? Perhaps I've missed something.

  10. Sorry I havent got back been really buzy, There is really no conversion done since the VOBs are mpeg2 allready. I have around 75 tapes that Im just dumping to the drive and cutting out sections and naming them to what they are like christmas 1991 etc...
So when I have several on the drive I try to put christmas, and thanksgivings etc.... togeather. I can look at the mpeg size's and see how many I can get on a 2hr dvdr and author with tmpge author. May not be the best way to do what Im doing but had been working okay till recently and over 50% of the files load just fine in tmpge author which seems odd to me.
    Thanks again for the help.

  11. Had similar problem with TDA not able to open some mpegs and giving an error message that I've forgotten. Make sure you have the most up to date version of mpg2 or video redo or womble mpg video wizard or whatever you're using. When I updated womble it fixed the files and TDA was then able to handle them. redo and womble have free trial periods.

If I understood correctly, you're converting to mpg2 so you can do your own titling, etc, which I don't think TDA can do, although, yes, it will cut your vob for you, if you don't want to do anything else with it.

  12. Yea I made the mistake years ago to take all my vhs SP mode to Vhs EP mode so I have hours on vhs tape with different events. I have been using
Mpgcut2 to do my cutting which is very fast and very easy to use and just save it as a .mpg file.
