  1. Is it possible to convert a 582x480i Motorola DVR DCT6412 capture from firewire directly to computer HD to a 720x480 DVD compatible mpeg file?

Or would it be better to buy a Canopus ADVC300 analog to digital video converter unit?

    Suggestions & Comments welcome.

    Thank You

  2. I may have finally found my answer. Took about a week to find but if you don't get the terminology correct your SOL!

If that doesn't work, a ADVC-300 would be drastic overkill for captiring DV from a cable box*.

The ADVC-110, 100, 55, 50 (or equiv) would do equally well. Also other capture cards such as PVR-250 et all.

    * exception is the proc amp modes which are nice but I find even though cable channels vary as much as +/- 4IRE in black and white levels, they differ by channel so you can't assume a global correction.

"advanced 3D Y/C separation, 3D noise reduction" may help with poorer performing cable systems.
