G'day guys time for another one of those annoying newbie questions. Hopefully I can give enough information to avoid your wrath.

Ok, I am using DVD Decrypter to decrypt, then I use DVD shrink, backup the files in a folder, and then use NTI Cd & DVD Maker 7 to burn.

Now I have had two dvd's that I haven't had to shrink. I have followed the process besides DVD shrink, and they have worked fine in my standalone.

However the DVD's that I have shrunk have not worked in my standalone.

Ok now they work in my DVD writer, and they also work in some other DVD players I have tried. I am using DVD-r, and I initially thought my standalone must be DVD+R only, however I don't understand how that could be the case when the unshrunk DVD-r's work. Previous DVD's that have worked have been DVD+R's so I have no other experience with DVD-R's on this standalone.

    My media is TDK 4.7g 1-8x DVD-r.
    My writer is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVDK15RA
My standalone is an xms 250

Any ideas as to what the problem is? It seems to be either something to do with the format or something to do with DVDshrink. I'm going to try Nero trialware and see if that makes a difference. I know NTI isn't looked upon too highly.

Perhaps your dvd player dosen't handle burned dvds well. Also could be the software used to burn. Set dvdshrink to output to an ISO then use dvddecrpyter to burn the ISO to a dvd r.

It could possibly be that my player just can't handle them, it is fairly old. However I've played burned copies before with no problem.

If it's a software problem, that could explain it all. Perhaps the other players can handle it but mine can't handle whatever is going wrong.

How do you set dvdshrink to output to an ISO. I've seen that talked about for DVDdecrypter but I can't find it in shrink.

After you've hit the back-up button a new dialog box will open with about half a dozen tabs. In the first one near the very top there is a pull down menu, one of the option is to burn an ISO image.

Sorry I'm not familiar with NTI Cd & DVD Maker 7 so this may not be useful....do you burn two directories one called "Video_TS" one called "Audio_TS"? I only ask because you mentioned it being an old DVD Player you have. Some old players require the directory Audio_TS even though it is empty, if these two programmes don't automatically create the directory (and you don't do it manually) this could be the problem.

No audio_ts is definitely not going to help. I did that at the beginning not realising anything was out of the ordinary and those DVD's don't work on anything (well except for on my laptop). Downloaded Nero, going to have another go and try ISO, thanks for your help I found that now. I'll post how I go.

and actually it MUST be "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" (all caps) or it will not work!
