I need DVD copy software that works

I have a simple 15:30 DVD- copy of 16mm film, that I want to copy.
DVD-X-Copy Gold does not make complete copy on my HD so I have to do file manipulation before I burn.
Roxio CD&DVD Creator 6 will not make a complete copy. Sometimes it makes a 3:45 copy and others a 14:30 copy but never a full copy.
Based on the review here "Big DVD Movie recoding quality test" I downloaded InterVider DVDCopy. After an hour read and 12 min burn ?? I ended up with another coster. Hangs, skips, largr color blotches etc, etc
Media is Hypermedia DVD+R so based on DVD-X good burn I know media can work.
Considered DVDWizzard Pro but their trial is only good for 10 min so I cannot test to know if it is any better than Roxio.
Hardware is TDK 440N with latest firmware.
Searches on net for reviews only provides conflicting claims by so-called reviewers who I suspect are jsut retailers trying to sett their bad software.

Any help will really be appreciated.

Thanks for reply. It may be too late.
I tried to make a copy using Intervideo DVDCopy and now I find that that program wrote to the original DVD which cost me $96 to have made.
dvddecripter can not read it and my file manager program cannot read the dvd and I can no longer play it either.
Not sure what I will do now. The DVD was of a 40 year old 16mm film and may not be able to make another DVD.
I may be looknig at legal action.

Find someone reputable that can tell you what you have left on the DVD. I assume it was a RW disc, otherwise you wouldn't be able to write over it. If it was an R disc chances are you still have the data you desire. You just need someone that can get at it... pm

I suspect that your original DVD recordable was defective in some way. Talk to the original creators and tell them that the DVD that they produced is not working.

Unless you did something terribly wrong, a finalized DVD+/-R (RW) cannot be written to by the READ laser.

There was another thread recently about a wedding DVD that could only be played on a standalone player, and not a PC. Maybe you got something in that non-standard format.
