  1. I would like to have a sticky thread made for observations using Plus and Minus Dual Layer Media. I don't want it to be a flamewar, but instead a resource for both types of media. I know there are media and player sections, but those doesn't always cover the software and techniques that were used to burn the media. That type of information would be nice to have as I have seen that those and brand are the biggest factors in whether or not a disc will play or even successfully burn. Also, it would be nice to have all of that information in one place instead of having to try and cross reference the Media and Player sections of the site. To save space, links to other threads where some of this information has been covered would of course work as well.

So, would it be possible to have a sticky made of this thread so that it would be easy to find?

    Thanks.

For one, there is no such thing as "minus" media. You've been brainwashed by the RW Alliance. It's merely "DVD R" and the other one is "DVD plus R". Did you call CD-R "CD minus R" ... no, of course not. And anyway, that is a dash or hyphen, not a "minus" You use "minus" in math.

We have enough stickies in this forum. But thanks anyway. Cannot sticky everything.

  3. Well it was worth a shot. The only reason I called it minus is because you cannot do a search on the Forum using just -R, +R, Plus R, Minus R, etc. or you will be redirected to Google even if you use quotes and/or Advanced Search for not having enough characters. When I check Google, the only relevant threads I can find relating to -R Dual Layer Media are over a year old. That was why I suggested a sticky which could of course be renamed +R and -R Dual Layer Media.

Oh well, I guess more of this information will come out eventually.

    Thanks.

  4. Just search for "dual layer" every week. As more and more people adopt one standard or another there will be more comparisons. As of today, there is already a good amount of reading if you search.

I'm not sure that "dual layer" would work, either. Supposedly, "dual layer" is -R and "double layer" is +R.

Search for both then. Most people refer to both as dual layer or dl anyway.
