  1. After skimming some reviews and looking at sites, I was going to settle on either the Dazzle Hollywood Bridge or the Pinnacle DV500+. But I still read that there were problems with each, so now I am looking into the really high end stuff from Pinnacle. Has anyone had any experience with those products? (Such as the Pinnacle Pro-One, the dvd2000 or the targa 3000) I'm looking to do capture dvd and analogue and all that usual stuff, not really looking to edit, so I know it's overkill, but at the same time, I'd rather spend the money for efficient products that get the job done the first few times around rather than fiddle forever to get it right. Anyone have any luck with these products (or more importantly, are they capable of doing what I am looking for)? Thnx to anyone who can help.

  2. Well, since no one has responded, I'm guessing no one knows much about these products. Anywhere I could gather more info on higher end capturing products?

Aside from that, I was hoping to get more clarity on issues with the Hollywood Bridge and the Pinnacle DV500. From the capture reviews, I saw a few problems involving inability to create DVDs off of both, but I take that to NOT mean having problems capturing DVD correct? I'm still looking into the viability of getting good dvd and analogue captures with either one of these cards, so if anyone can offer any more input than what is in the reviews, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thnx.

Get the DV500. It captures good.

  4. DV500 - Single biggest pain in the ass problem: BLACK LINE FLASHING. (Basically black frames). I've seen this happen on two completely different systems running with the DV500, and if you check pinnacle's forums, it's ALL OVER the place.

I'm pretty sure that even exporting still suffers this same problem, because the DV500 will use it's realtime capabilities to speed up the export process. Pinnacle and everyone else claims stuff like this is a data-rate problem, but I personally think that's total BS. The HD lights aren't even pegged on. You'd think that if the system was struggling to get all it's data on time, that the hard-drives would be running like gangbusters.

We tweaked and tweaked and finally improved the situation, but it still exists.

And the kicker is that it just started one day. We'd had the system, using that card, on those hard drives for between 9 months and a year.. and then, all of a sudden, one day.. *BLAMMO* here come the flashes!!

Kinda a pain in the ass for a realtime card, if you ask me. If you're going to have to render anyways you may as well save yourself a couple hundred bucks.
