This is in reference to the article on the main page dvd player that play divx. I was wondering how would this work for recording a divx to dvd -r/+r. Does anyone have any experiences with these players. Do you just copy the divx file to a dvd -r/+r and let it play. I was just wondering about this thanx all.

Yep, just copy and burn the divx as ordinary data. No authoring required.

I am trying to use Nero with a DVD-RW to do this but the player does not recognise the disk.

What format should be used, ISO or UDF?

Also, can I use folders/directories or must it just be raw .avi files in the root of the DVD-RW/CD-RW?

Are you trying to play on a PS2 (as in your profile)? It may be worth checking that the PS2 will play the codec that the avi was encoded with. I don't have one myself but the description HERE says it doesn't support XviD for example.
Sorry can't help with burn format and use of directories for the PS2, but hopefully someone with a PS2 will be able to help more.

I do apologise, my profile was outdated.

I have updated it now, I have a Samsung DivX/XviD playing DVD Recorder (the DVR-122).

I have now got it to work..

But just a query, must the disc be a non-multisession one?
