Hey All,
Just recently purchased an external Dvr-109 straight out of the box worked great with excellent speeds. I updated the firware to 1.55 (dont ask me why) and it slowed my speeds down to 2x (sigh) So I updated again recently to 1.57 and the speeds now hang around 2x occassionally going up to 4.5. Is there a way to fix this or re flash to the original firmware? Pioneer have been little to no help!!!!
Thx

Have you tried burning with different software, just to rule out that its not software related.

Hmm interesting a just hooked it up to my PC a work and burned am testing with Prassi ONES it started out at 6x dropped to about 3x and is now slowly heading back up......it just hit 8x at about 80% of the disk. OK is that normal? OK just ran another test with 32x CDR Verbatim media same sort of the thing started at 16x is now hovering around 24x. Sorry if this is all newbie stuff but I have never really messed around with these sort of drives.
Thanks Lordsmurf -
I have Pioneer DVDR109, I use Verbatim 16x. Nero burns a 4.7GB DVD-R at about 10 mins. I'l tried some other software, they are slow.

I have been having the same problem...I have access to 3 different AO9s with the latest firmware 1.57. It doesn't make a difference which computer, which OS, or which brand of media. 4x works consistently well, but anything above is risky.
I've asked Pioneer customer support and haven't heard back in several weeks.
This problem first began when I upgraded to firmware 1.55. Is there any way to roll back to a previous version of the firmware? -
I would try the following:
1. Different media. Say, TYG03 or TYG02 at 8x. Ritek G05 at 8x is also a good match with that drive.
2. Move the drive to a different computer. See if it's a possible software issue on your machine.
If you want help changing the f/w on that drive, you might wish to try the CDfreaks board. Great forum with Pioneer-only "freaks" and info, do a search first: http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?s=f2c366cab3cd80029c9104a92c5cfbd3&f=87 -
I have 3 109 drives and they consistently burn at 8x using either prodisc or verbatim media. I use dvddecrypter to burn the isos.
what apps are you using to burn? -
I have tried Nero, Sonic RecordNow, and DVDDecrypter. I have used Imation, TDK, FujiFilm and Ritek G05 media. It doesn't happen as often on my faster computer (where I have two of the drives connected), but it happens all the time on the other one which is a bit slower, but has worked until I upgraded the firmware.

Your drive arrangement can cause this too. Where is everything connected?
