    I put together a video from live footage. The problem I'm having is that at the beginning of the footage the volume was super loud then the volume was adjusted but it made the rest of the video low. I can change the entire volume but I only want to change a portion. How ca I do this.

    select the timeline view, and look at the audio track. you should be able to click & drag the line that represents the volume.
