I've ripped and encoded a movie with TMPGEnc, but I can't find any info on how to take the original menus/extras from the disc and use them with my reauthored movie.

I don't believe TMPGEnc supports original menus. I know the DVD Author program doesn't.
If you're looking to use the original menus, I'd suggest DVD Shrink or Nero Recode. DVD Shrink is free, but older and no longer updated.
Actually, here's a question... what exactly are you trying to do. Why would you rip video from a DVD and then encode it directly back to a DVD? Are you trying to fit a DVD-9 onto a DVD-5? If so, you're going about it the wrong way.Veni Vidi Vici -
Is this close to what you're looking for:

I'm guessing you now have an MPEG2 file, to be able to follow that guide, you'll have to turn it into a VOB first. The easiest way to do it is with Ifoedit in author mode. -
Well, I tried something a little different and it seems to work. I authored a DVD folder with TMPGEnc DVD Author, then overwrote everything but the move itself with the original files. I loaded the video_ts.ifo in PowerDVD and it worked. Haven't burned it yet to try on player. Anything wrong with this method?

Hi-
Anything wrong with this method?
Yes. Much better would be to open the original DVD in VobBlanker and use the "Replace" button to replace the original with your reencoded and authored one. At the same time you can "Blank" out whatever else was on the original DVD that you don't want (Warnings, Logos, Extras, Previews, etc.). That way you can also keep the original menus or any extras you might want, which was your original question.
However, I'm not exactly clear on what you did. -
I don't get that VobBlanker method. I tried it and ended up without the menu. The main menu/intro is part of VTS 1 (VTS_01_0.VOB) and that was replaced by the reauthored movie and no menu/intro. The movie is Dracula 3: Legacy, by the way.

Darn, I can't find a guide with pics for the process. You open the VIDEO_TS.IFO of the original commercial DVD. Highlight the VTS you want to replace. It shows up on the lower screen. Highlight it in the lower screen, hit the "Replace" button, and scroll to the VTS_01_0.IFO of your reencoded and authored movie (there should be only 1). If that's all you want to do, then choose a place to save, and hit "Process".
Now, I've never authored with DVD Author. I use MuxMan or sometimes IFOEdit on my reencoded MPEG-2s to author, although I don't see why it would make any difference.
If you're having problems, then maybe mark all the other VTSs as "Skip", just "Process" the movie VTS, and then move it back into the original DVD. -

Nah, the VTS_01_0.VOB of the original DVD is a menu vob. When replacing the VTS_01_1-5, the menu doesn't get touched, unless you specifically tell VobBlanker to do something with it. For example, to even access that intro clip, after opening the original DVD and highlighting the VTS_01_*.VOB , you'd have to hit the "Menu" button in the upper right side. Then that VTS_01_0.VOB will open in a new screen. Otherwise, only the movie itself opens, and is accessable to be replaced. You can also double-click on the original movie in the lower screen, and a new screen will open up, with all the cells (usually the chapters) listed, and available for Preview. The intro won't be among them, and won't be replaced. By the way, I hope your reencoded and authored movie also has the original chapter points.
Are you telling me that after processing the movie, either the whole DVD, or just the movie itself as I described earlier, that somehow the VTS_01_0.VOB disappears, or doesn't play when you test out the DVD? Because, if so, I don't believe it, and you haven't gotten the hang of it yet. If just processing the movie, and skipping the rest, when the time comes to send the movie back into the original DVD, send everything that was created in your folder, IFOs, BUPs, the VTS_01_0.VOB (your untouched intro), the as well as the movie Vobs, taking care afterwards to delete any extra vobs left over from the original DVD. For example, if you have 5 reencoded vobs, and the original DVD had maybe 7 vobs, make sure and delete vob numbers 6 and 7 afterwards.
Maybe that was the problem-you were sending only the movie vobs back. Believe me, VobBlanker is a very powerful tool, and you'll find it indespensible after you get used to it. There are some good guides on this site and elsewhere for its use, but I couldn't find one for what you're doing, and for what I do several times a week. Good luck. -
VIDEO_TS.VOB is usually the menu.
VTS_01_0.VOB does not exist.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I don't have any chapter points. Chapters don't concern me. I got it to work, finally. Too bad I just realized that there's an alternate ending and I removed it on the copy I burned. lol

VTS_01_0.VOB does not exist.
Tell me you're joking. I have 9 DVDs on the hard drive at the moment, and the main menu is contained in the VTS_01_0.VOB of all of them.
Take it easy, Viper187. There's no cause for curses.
