I'm not clear on what improvement you get for all the anxiety. I have a 108 in my G-5 with the stock firmware out of the box, and it does everything I want - dual layer, high speed burning etc.

Adds support for various drives? Hard drives? I don't understand.

I'm at 1.18 and wondering if it's worth upgrading...

he means the FIRMWARE adds various support
(ie., updated drivers) to the drive
(firmware 1.20 is an across the board firmware for all of Pioneer's models)
as well as improving its ability to write to various
brands of media made by diffrent manufacturers.

Personally, while that's all fine and good, the fact remains
is that it doesn't make the drive BURN FASTER,
which [for most] was the reason for performing a risky
    procedure in the first place.

I would stick to what works....like FDR once said,
    "if it ain't broke...."
"Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
