    Hello,

I just started a new project working in DVDit PE 2.5 Iv used it before and everything worked great. Now on my current project i finish it then try to burn it... it goes through all the stages of transcoding ect just fine. Ten when it goes to burn to DVD it says something like "This recorder can not burn to this type media" or something to that nature. Iv used these DVDs before with the software and it worked just fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled my DVD burner (Sony DRU 510A) and installed newest firmware for it. Then I updated DVDit and updated everything i possibly could to fix the problem. but nothing happened.. still dosnt work. I have no idea why it would all of a sudden not work. I tried 5 black DVDs all the same manufacturer .. but since iv used these DVDs before i dont see what the problem is.

Thanks in advance for any help that might be givin.

    Thanks
    Matt

Not enough information to go on.

It would be useful if you could post a screenshot of exactly what error message you are getting. What burning application are you using. Have you tried different media (maybe you have a bad batch).

Go to Build and select Make DVD Folder.

Once done... you should see a VIDEO_TS folder. Just use any DVD burning softwaew e.g. Nero.

Don't Sonic DVDit! to burn the DVD... it buggy.

Sonic's DVDit was always plagued with problems expecially the 2.x series of that software. I haven't tried the 5 version so I cannot tell you how well the most current version works. A few years back DVDit SE, PE were the best DVD Authoring software you could get in it's price range, but they did have their problems. One is the one you're currently having. If I remember correctly the only fix to this problem was to create a video_ts folder with DVDit and to burn this folder to DVD with some other software. Back then there were guides available on how to do this using VOB Instant CD/DVD, but now it's a lot easier since some burning software includes a template for this burning option. This is a good thing because the video_ts folder & it's contents have to be burned in the proper disc format and aparently in a certain order in order to burn a disc that is compatible with stand alone DVD Players. I remember burning many a coaster back then and what makes it worse was that disc's were in the $8.00 to $10.00 range each. It's very hard to stomach a $10.00 coaster. Nero has this burning option, but other software like Prassi The One's can do this also. Many DVD authoring software like Ulead's DVD Movie Factory & DVD Workshop can also burn from video_ts folders. Hope this helped and good luck!

DVDit! PE 2.5 is excellent software. I still use it from time to time (I'm now using Ulead DVDWS2 for motion menus and multi VTS, as well as program stream import).

That said, the burning engine isn't great. Author to a folder, burn in something else (Nero or RecordNow, not Roxio ... let us know what you have).

It may just be the media, that SONY burner is not the best.
