    hi- i want to rip some low quality mp3 s from higher bitrate mp3s or wav files, (56-96 kb/s) to use as ringtones,or some short avis to watch on my phone does anyone have any free apps to try??

    Nokia multimedia converter can convert avi to 3gp.

    What phone do you have, some phones do support mp3 to be used as ringtones.

    I would suggest you get something like an MP3 splitter so that you could split an MP3 file to the required length for a ringtone.
