    Hi guys,

i have a dvd recorder (sony rdr-hx910), it works great but has 1 flaw.
when it makes a dvd other dvd player cant read it well (it stops every 30sec).
it seems it creats a dvd with video 9800kbps and audio 256kbps.
so i wanne lower the video stream.
is there a program that can recode the video stream with a lower bitrate of a dvd ? (a simple program)

    Thanks for your help

Baldrick's right. DVDshrink will do the job. you need to go to the dropdown menu that shows the re-encoding method (it usually says 'automatic', which means it only re-encodes if it sees your content is over 4.37 GB). click on this and change it to 'manual'. then you can use the slider above it (which presumably is set to 100%) and slide it down till it says, oh, i dont know, about 90% shoud do it. then re-encode at that rate. that will make the file size smaller AND knock down the bitrate.

    happy shrinking!

    What recording mode?

Know that ONLY the header is 9800. DVD Shrink will not change this. It will only lower the bitrate, not the header. If you run BITRATE VIEWER, you'll be able to see the true bitrate of the video, not just the header.

Your DVD player may simply not like the media, or it doesn't like burns period.

    hi,

i have 2 new dvd player that play the dvd's intermitand, the dvd's are not good for other players.
i tried the program bitrate viewer but cant open a dvd with it.
i use the program TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 and it tells me that the total stream (vid+audio) is biger than standard (max 9848kbps)
if i burn a dvd with nero or something els it plays like a dream.
