Hi.
I am aware that we have a Latest News forum here. I have also noticed that members, and moderators do post interesting news-tidbits every now and then that draw fair interest among readers. Notably BJ_M.
Perhaps BJ_M or Baldrik himself or some other moderator/administrator can think of launching an Electronic Newssheet. Doom9 has one. Not that we must have one because somebody else has one. But obviously some of you guys do keep your eyes and ears open and continuously go on noticing things; just sharing those things on an ongoing basis from a fixed page that the VideoHelp browsers will know in their bones will give them interesting reading every morning (or evening, or whatever, depending on the location)...
Thanks.

I could do that -- show me some examples on how you like them laid out ...
(i actually do these for other sites)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
vcdhelp style, hehe
Wait. I've been here long enough.. But, didn't we use to have
something like this on the main forum page back in 2001 I think ??
I think it was somewhere's in the left pan area, and brief snips
of news would be added every so often.
(we used to have lots of server trouble in 2001, if memory serves
me correctly) and maybe that had something to do with the unsucces
of the attempts. I don't know. I'm just trying to remember that
far back.
Maybe, somwhere's at the top, just before the new topics show,
a small 5 line ticker of latest "anything" vcdhelp or other,
quotes/news could scroll up the screen. Maybe it could iterate
a few headlines, like 5 news or something, and in smaller print,
the body of the first 255 char or so, to wet out appetite to
click a link to the news section where the posts of *that* news
is coming from ??
.
I think that would be cool and interesting for us viewers.

The thing is, most of BJ_M's news is not video
related. I think it's fine where it is. If you are
a news junkie you can always set up your
own ticker or feed from any of the major
news stites. -
it is media related in news -- how i choose what gets posts in news or in off topic
in fact it is very much video related directly or indirectly ."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
was not posted in news of course - but in off topic
"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Just pulling your leg there BJ_M. I think you
are doing a great job and the news you post
is informative and entertaining. I just don't
see a need for a front page display besides
the one we have right now. -
DEET DEET DA DEET DEET ... And his just in.
Not a bad idea, but alot of work for any one person. I think that more member participation in the spots that we have would be enough. Maybe put it in a permanent spot at the top of the latest post pane.IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -

hmm.. you'd need your own forum for an rss feed.
Maybe put it in a poll and see what votes you get then if popular
ask Baldrick. -
