  1. So... Now whan I am on the other side of ocean.. I am trying to decide which DVD Recorder to buy. Which brands that sell recorder in EU are capable of recording in NTSC (other than Pioneer) ?

    This is what I think that is true so far:

    Pioneer -> YES
    JVC -> NO
    Panasonic -> YES (also from FireWire)
    Sony -> NO

  3. I would recommend to also look at Philips. I have just got the DVDR 615/17 US NTSC model and to my pleasant surprise it also records in PAL via firewire from a PAL camcorder. So I wouldn't be surprised if a EU PAL Philips recorder was able to also record in NTSC, perhaps only via firewire, if that's all you need.

    Most of my friends use the Pansonic E-50 or similar for occasional NTSC recording. NTSC input can only be 3.58Mhz though and the results are not as good as PAL recorded from RGB.
