Hi, got a question or 2 on VCD. Hope people here can help.

    1) I would like to break the .dat files in VCD into tracks. Is that possible ? That means,

I have a anime VCD (From Malaysia). The timing is 55 mins with no tracks inside. But the anime actually do have 2 language audio. English & Japanese audio. I just want the Japanese audio. Just that they record all into 1 VCD and make it 55 mins. In other words, have to play all from head to tail. What I want to do is, to have a seperate them into 2. So that I can have only the Japanese audio. Is that possible ? If possible, how ?

    2) And, I do have anime VCDs which have a number of tracks in 1 disc. All are in Japanese version. How do I make into just 1 track, so as to make it into 1 disc ?

Extract DAT back into an MPEG. Use ISO Buster.
    Get the M2F2 data.

That gets you MPEG. Want to split?
Use Womble (MPEG editor) or TMPGENC's MPEG TOOLS
    Split as needed.

Demux the audio/video in TMPG MPEG TOOLS.

Take audio into editor like SoundForge. Copy audio you want on top of the other channel, effectively deleting the one you do not want.

You can then remux in TMPG MPEG TOOLS.

Either author to DVD, or put onto a new VCD.

    Done.

Hi, thanks.. Guess, this is the right forum I have come into. Cos' so many forums, no many can answer my questions and some are broken answer. Thank you. I will come back here if I met any problems with it.. Sorry to ask. I got a Mpeg 4 video from 1 of my anime VCDs. How do I convert to say, Mpeg 3 or Mpeg 2 ? Use which tools ?

Cos' I'm compiling all my anime VCDs to watch on my PPC. So when boring, just watch my anime.

    MPEG-4 is not VCD.
Are you saying you have a data disc?

I also have some dual-audio VCDs.
I've done this process before, nothing new to me.

Never mind, that isn't a problem now. So what I going to do now is copy the .dat file into my hard drive, and use whatever tools avaliable to edit those videos to what I like.

Recently I found a problem while copy and paste a .dat files to my hard drive. It display "Error in copy. Invalid MS-DOS Function". May I know what is that and how to resolve that ? Thanks.

Use ISOBUSTER, don't copy the DAT.
    DAT is not MPEG.

I think what LS means is to use proper software, such as ISOBuster or VCDGear, to extract the MPEG out of the DAT file, as opposed to just using the DAT file itself and just renaming it for any conversions you're going to do. You can use both ISOBuster and VCDGear directly off the disc, so there should be no need to copy the DAT file to your Hard drive first
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ok, for ISO Buster, how do I do it ? Or is that a guide ? Cos' what I normally do is to copy and paste the .dat files to 1 of the foler. Then use VCDGear to convert it from .dat to Mpeg.
