  1. Just downloaded the free version of VCDEasy the other day (version 1 1 5 2), and just as the program starts up, I get the following message:

"The burning part of VCDEasy has been disabled because the current aspi layer of your windows seems to be inadequate"

I've installed the Aspi driver of 4.71, and followed the directions for installing into WIN ME. Uninstalled the programs and reinstalled it a few times, rebooted my computer...... I've obviously have missed something. Can somebody please fill in the blanks. What have I done wrong?

I've spent the best part of two weeks, just trying to sort out this aspi garbage. I wouldn't be surprised if I've still downloaded the wrong version of aspi. as aspi is for scsi devices, I don't know why I need to have it, as all my devices are IDE. (i think. I can't remember inserting any scsi cards into my computer, over the last four years)

I'm just trying to burn a vcd to a TDK Velo Writer 161040x internal, through NTI CD DVD Maker 7.

    UPDATE,

Just tried doing the same in the latest version of VCDEast 3.02, and still get the same message.

Try installing ASPI 4.6. I used to have problems with VCDEasy not allowing me to burn under XP until I did this.

After three aspi head cracking weeks, I've finally fixed it.

Thanks a million. My VCDEasy now works beautifully. aspi 4.71 kept on screwing up, so did aspi 4.60 and 4.61.

    F O R C E A P S I 1 . 7 is the fix!!!

I tried ForceASPI1.7 and now i'm pumping out VCD's, like good old Bondi Beach pumps out the good "surfin'" foam.

ForceASPI1.7 has aspi 4.60 inside it. Strange how I couldn't get the raw version of 4.60 to work, but how ForceASPI works great.

My Nero ver.5 still chucks blue screens, but I'll sort that tech-ake out another day. Thanks a lot for the advice.

I'm now doing all my burning through VCDEasy and NTI CD DVD Maker 7.

  4. Yes, the old curiosity returns... It's funny how ForceASPI installs the ASPI driver more reliably the the original installer...

Never understood that myself either. Would use ChkASPI and it would report that it was not properly installed. Installed or upgraded with the same problem. Had to use one of thos apps in order for some burning apps to work properly. Ask adaptec about it and they'll probably reply that your system is the problem or that you're not doing the installation right.

  6. Ripped Nero 5 off my system as it was giving me nothing but headaches.

    Just installed Nero 6 6 0 14 this morning.

In combination with ForceASPI 1.7, you guys help, and VCDEasy, my computing experiences have turned into a smooth dream. I can't thank you guys enough!

NO MORE BLUE SCREENS, NO MORE HEADACHES
