I made a slide show of my images which included wav and MP3 music. The program gave me options to make an Exe file or a mpg. So I made both. The exe works well on my computer as does the mpg.

Now I need to get it on to a CD but the different steps, the use of other encoders and the rest of the listed problems has me shaking my head. I get emails with loads of different kinds of videos which play with the loaded software. But if I want to store that video or make one of my own and put it on a CD things seem to get very confusing.

I use to place my images on a CD for storage, but it seems that now, for some reason, its got really confusing if you have a DVD burner that is suppose to burn CD's as well.

I must be missing something in this discussion because this is far from simple right now.

I have read a number of the Guides and they are good but it seems to me that a simple group of jpegs and some timed sounds should be easier to put on a CD so that it can be played by Media Player as are many other Mpg's.

I must really be out to lunch or becoming thick in the head. All I want is a quality equal to what I see on my monitor now.

To burn as a data file you burn to CD/DVD just as you would if it's an image file. This will only play on your computer with exception of standalone DVD players that support file playback which are not many. If the guides you are referring too are for authoring a disc, they are for creating CD's/DVD's that will play in a standalone DVD player. You don't need to do this if you only want a copy of the file on disc.
