    Been reading around how AVIVO supposedly does proper upscaling however I can not figure out how this all works.

    There are no AVIVO options other than things like Colour in Catalyst and from what I am seeing in various players there is no post-processing upscaling going on. I am mainly interested in MPEG2 material and using FFDShow I can see improvement but at the cost of lots of CPU usage. I am using the PowerDVD 7.3 codecs for playback but do I need PowerDVD 8 to beneft from this ?? I am using a 3650 butI dont think it makes much difference which card??

    Your card support these AVIVO features
    Code:
    ATI Avivo Video Post Processor

        * Color space conversion
        * Chroma subsampling format conversion
        * Horizontal and vertical scaling
        * Gamma correction
        * Advanced vector adaptive per-pixel de-interlacing
        * De-blocking and noise reduction filtering
        * Detail enhancement
        * Inverse telecine (2:2 and 3:2 pull-down correction)
        * Bad edit correction
    You have to use a supported codec in order to tap into the AVIVO processor .

    Do a google search for avivo and codecs or something
    Linux _is_ user-friendly. It is not ignorant-friendly and idiot-friendly.
