  1. Ok, howm do I get rid of the padding from XSVCDs? The thing always tags on another extra 100 MB. I could live with it for a while, but now I want to know... How do I get rid of it?

De-mux re-mux does not help with TMPGenc. I tried bbMPEG, it gave me an error at close to the last I-frames... The filesize was quite a bit bigger... Is there a solution this problem? 100 MB would add a lot to overall quality.

  2. OK, first question:

When you are multiplexing in TMPGEnc, are you selecting "MPEG-2 Super Video CD (VBR)" from the dropdown box?

If so and it doesn't work, try this in bbMPEG under Program Stream Settings:

    Program stream type: SVCD
Add SVCD scan offsets: No (uncheck)
    Align sequence headers: No (uncheck)
    Forced mux rate: 0

Give this a try -- I can not gaurantee success, but it has worked for me.

BTW, the error you get in bbMPEG -- is it something about "User Data not found" (or something like that) when scanning offsets?

    Good luck!

  3. Yup, that's what I'm doing for TMPGEnc. I'll try your bbMPEG setting in a second.

  4. Wow, this has been tossed around in the forum forever, and nobody ever just said: remove the scan offsets. Anyways, it works great now, burned well, and all that. Added about 8 MB, which is what the overhead SHOULD be.

Thanks a lot. That was really helpful.

The problem is, now I have to re-encode all my movies...

  5. I am so very glad that I could help!

Anyway, I must ask, why re-encode all of your movies?

(By the way, I should give credit to the author of the FitCD program... He was the one to make it very clear in his documentation of his great program!)

Again, glad to be of help!

  6. Those 100 megs extra could much improve the quality of XSVCDs I made. I still have all the original sources so why not? I guess it is a waste of CD-Rs but they cost nothing nowdays.

  7. May I recommend then that you grab yourself a copy of FitCD... I find it the best calculator for SVCD -- all of my BIN/CUE files have been in the 79:30 - 79:59 range -- although it is a little confusing at first. After playing with it a little, I found it to be an invaluable tool!

Yes, you will see a decent increase in available bits by removing the sequence headers!

FitCD can be found in the Tools Section or at http://members.tripod.de/fitcd/
