  1. hi... i use 3 media players normally, core player, media player classic and media player 10. The movies (divx) that i play on these 3 players look pretty much the same.

But when i open the movie in Virtual dub, the colors are so much nicer for some reason. Like they're darker and more normal. in those 3 players, the colors are kinda alitte brighter in contrast and brighter overall which makes them look a little bit over exposed. i tried to tweak with the brightness settings but i cant get them to perfectly look like virtualdub's colors...

why is this so..? how do i make it so that my normal players can play like virutal dub?

try play with videolan. it comes with its own codecs. do you see any difference? then it it is some codec problem

what is you graphic card? i had some similiar problem with latest nvidia drivers...it messed up the overlay color settings.

    Hi,

virtualDUB converts those videos to RGB, that's why.

The software players you named seem to be playing them in OVERLAY,
and that probably explains the "lightness" you are seeing and, which
    is normal in OVERLAY mode.
    .
You can turn this off, but I forget which method. Perhaps someone
else can jump in with the areas to set for this.. overlay off. If
you turn overlay off, you'll get the YUV conversion to RGB, hence
    the richer colors

    - Maybe this could be added to the How-Do-I F.A.Q.

but it should't be that big difference...then you have some very wrong overlay settings.

vhelp: i haven't updated the faq in years ...and I wont start now...
