  1. I'm not sure if you guys know this, there is a small program called TMPGEncCalc that could help you when encoding.

    This program will display the size of a file generating by TMPGEnc during encoding procedure. So when it reachs a full disk worth of length, you can manually stop the TMPGEnc.

    Below is quoted from the Readme file come with the program.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
    Introduction
    ============

    TMPGEncCalc is a simple GUI enhancement for TMPGEnc which attempts to get the size of the output file and remaining free space on the target drive while encoding (all in real-time). I say "attempts" because this script relies on calls to the OS to determine file-sizes. Sometimes it can't read the file due to file-locks on the file and reports 0 bytes erroneously. You can attempt to gauge the size by watching the free disk space indicator. The refresh rate of the file-size and the disk-space remaining is slow due to the OS not refreshing this information faster, not because TMPGEncCalc doesn't poll frequently. Sometimes clicking on the TMPGEncCalc window makes it refresh.

    This GUI sounds really nice. However ...

    I know my CD can only fit 74 minutes or 79 minutes, so I use SmartRipper to extract VOBs according to running time, and "split" discs during the initial ripping process. This saves me a huge headache prior to burning, and it cuts the film according to the IFO.

    This GUI could be most useful to people who capture video. Where can it be downloaded?

  4. I downloaded it today and forgot to mark the URL.

    I was searching for MPEG2VCR, and it came out with 69 sites, this program is in one of them.

    I can email it to whoever can put it on the tool section of this site.

    According to the licence.txt, it's free distributible, but I haven't read it through carefully.
