DVD contents play into each other at the end

I have a challenge with my newly created DVD project... all the videos flow into one another (instead of going back to Menu after a video is done) and also I can't advance into a new chapter.

Let me explain...

I have about 20 modules (video segments) for a training. Each is recorded into AVI. I went through the song and dance to get them onto a DVD format. I created a menu using Nero, then "burned" this to the HDD, then took that HDD file into TMPGEnc DVD Author to create an ISO Image (not sure what it is but I was told to use this software). And then I wrote the ISO to the DVD.

So the DVD has the chapters which now show up on the menu but it's not quite how I planned.

First off, from the 20 modules, 17 of them should be part of a Main video (video 1 of 3 that I need). Then the other 3 modules should be part of a Bonus Track video. The third item I need on the DVD is a short version of the 17 module video. Make sense? So 45 min for the 17 modules then a brief 15 min version of this same video (so I use the same videos) and then the 3 leftover are for my Bonus section.

But that's not what happens. I end up with all of the videos on there and if I start with the short video (Track 1), it then goes into the long video (track 2) and that goes into the Bonus section. How do I get it to come back to the menu instead of looping into the next video?

Also, when in the long video or the Bonus for that matter, I created chapters that I was hoping to be able to skip to. The chapters are there, but I can't seem to skip to them. What am I doing wrong?

Last question... the Nero menu creator isn't exactly phenomenal. Would it make more sense to create my menus in TMPGENc DVD AUthor? And if so... then how can I choose a specific part of the video for my chapter thumbnail (what I like about Nero is it never allows for a black thumbnail which most of these would be because that's what the first couple of frames are).

Just wondering if anyone can point me towards what to search for or what report to read etc so that I can figure this out on my own. All I would like to learn is how I can stop the 3 main videos from playing into each other once one ends. I'd like each video to jump back to the Menu. Any suggestions of what to search for or what to read?

cant help you as i dont use tmpg dvd author.

do you have dvd lab, you can download a functional trial from

The DVD player will look for instructions at the end of each file or chapter point. If it finds none, it will continue to play. What you need to find is how to set those instructions with the software that you are using or from an piece of software.
