Not sure if this is even possible..but I wanted to ask before I delete the files...
I have an avi that I put thru TMPGenc and turned into a .m2v file. The resulting file was pretty big - just over 8gig...
Now I took the huge m2v file, added back the audio and ran thru TMPG DVD author and now have my Video_Ts folder with the vob files. Needless to say - nothing will burn it since it's too big for a DVD5 - but rather than re encode (and I don't want to run it thru Shrink either) I'd rather just burn to 2 DVD's - but DVD fab doesn't allow me to split it - I don't know why (I did add chapters in TMPG DVD author).
Is there any other way? Or anyone know a reason this didn't work?
This was just an experiment - but I'd like to know where I went wrong.
    Thanks

    IFOEdit can probably split it.
    If in doubt, Google it.

When you created your mpeg you needed to adjust the bitrate so that it fits on one disk. If you used the project wizard in TMPGEnc you can do that in the last screen.

TMPGEnc DVD Author lets you edit. Re-author your mpeg and use TDA to cut it to fit on one disk, do that for both parts. If you don't have the original mpeg then you can import your oversize DVD into TDA ("ADD DVD Video") and again cut it to fit. Otherwise you can use DVDShrink to compress your oversize DVD to fit it all on one disk.

Thanks for the tip Jimmalenko, I'm trying the info edit...at first, it didn't see any split so I'm guessing the chapters I set up in TMPG DVDauthor weren't compatible. So now I'm going to try and bring the m2v and audio together with ifoedit and hope it will allow me to add chapters there - then I hope it will be able to do a 'split' for me.
And thanks to ZippyP, yes, I normally use the bitrate calc to ensure the resulting m2v will fit on a DVD. But this time I did that with this 3 hour avi and the quality was terrible - so..I used bitrate calc and told it to base the ave on 2 DVD5's. Now I have this jumbo size m2v...and I'm left with the problem of trying to burn onto the separate DVDs.
As I mentioned..I'm just experimenting here...I may even get the same bad quality after all this..but I won't know till I try
