Hi, I have a G5 1.8 single CPU with 1 GB of Ram. From what I have read here, Canopus is the highest rated unit for Mac's. I have looked at them and I am in between the 100 or 110, or spending the extra $$$ and buying the 300. I underststand the difference's between the 3 different unit specs on paper, but since I haven't seen any finished product DVD's I am asking for input from Mac/Canopus users.

My needs are to transferr old home VHS tapes, taken with 1st generation camera's and some of these tapes are up to 20 years old, but have been stored well. Then I have 8mm home tapes that are up to 10 years old. These where taken with a 10 year old Sony camera.

1) Is the 300 worth the extra $$$ over 100 or 110 ?

2) If it is, is is because of the Line TBC ? Would I be better off from a "Best Bang For My Buck" point of view to buy a 100 or a 110, and a seperate Full Frame TBC over the 300 then ?

3) If a seperate Full Frame TBC is the answer, please list the make and model that you would recomend.

4) I am a newbie to all of this and I am guessing that the Canopus units come with instructions as far as all of the settings that will give you the best results, like bit rate for example. Any input or links on this would be GREAT.

5) Is Oxford 911 the best chip set for an FW 400 External Enclosure for Mac's ? I am wanting to place a Pioneer 109, in one and an 160,200, or 250 GB HD in another.

Thank You For Your Time And Knowledge.

Best Wishes,

Hounddog
