    Ok. I just got my DVD player. It's a sharp dv-740. Plays some vcd's great and others are in black and white. anyone know how to fix this? Please help!!

    Sounds like a PAL vs NTSC issue.

    My guess would be that you live in NTSC land, and the discs that play in B&W are formatted for PAL. Some players will spit out the correct video format regardless, some won't.
