What is the best and easy to use free software that can capture still images from a dvd, dvd +r/-r? I downloade VirtualDub once, but I had deleted an inessential file on my computer once and VirtualDub needed it to work.

If you have a sofware dvd player (like PowerDVD), you can use that to captiure stills from a dvd.

Not sure about any freeware apps. You can try Zoom Player.

I was going to mention media player classic but for some reason (well on my pc anyway) the capture icon is greyed out so you cannot click it.

I downloaded both mediapayer classic which seemed very simple to use, however, the capture option was alos blacked out. The Zoom Player seems kind of difficult to use and it will not even play the disc in the drive.
