  1. Hi guys,

Just created a single mpeg1 file in Sony Vegas 4. I've now finished it and want to burn it to VCD. Rather then having to break it up into 18 individual tracks, (18 music video clips), is there a program where I can open up the one mpeg1 file, drop the index marks in (for noting where the tracks start), then burn the VCD. I tried doing this in NTI CD-DVD Maker 7, but it won't let me view the file, for this purpose. I would just have to burn it as one file, or break it up into individual clips in vegas .

Any help would be much appreciated.

VCDEasy is probably the best VCD authoring software going around. I think there's the last freeware version floating around this site somewhere. AFAIK Nero can do it as well, but it's not as flexible.

    EDIT:
    Here's the last freeware version:

    If in doubt, Google it.

If Nero is used to author the CD, it can't do indexing. Indexes are usually called "entry points" in VCD/SVCD, but "chapters" in DVD. If you author with VCDEasy, Nero can burn the resulting image file with no problem and it will have indexes, if you created them. VCDEasy pushes some freeware burning program. I don't remember the name of it, but it doesn't support as many burners as you might think and may or may not work you. VCDEasy is a great program and I won't use anything else for making VCDs.

  6. The burning proggy in VCDEasy should work with just about any internal IDE burner. External burners are a different story.
