  1. I successfully created a DVD from my own MPG. But after a disk crash and recreating the MPG from a DVD, Vegas does not see the audio channel, even though the sound plays fine in Media Player. Vegas could see the original MPG audio track.

It seems that not all MPGs are the same, and I suspect that it has something to do with .ac3 encoded sound.

Could some describe what's going on? I need the MPG in order to re-do the menus in Vegas in Sony Architect.

Vegas can not open .ac3 audio.
You could convert .ac3 to wav with BeSweet, if you do not have the original audio any more.

So if I demux to .mv2 and .ac3, convert the latter to .wav, and then mux back to mpg. it should work?

So MPG's that have .ac3 encoded audio are incompatible with Vegas, but MPGs with .wav encoded audio should be fine.

    Exactly.
You do not have to mux .wav back to mpg to open it in Vegas. Just open mpg and than open the .wav.
