I guess the MAC guys will like this - before they are forced to switch to PC clones anyway ...

Is Microsoft really relying on Macs to create advertisements on all the creative things you can do with Windows?

Well, maybe. On Sunday night, Microsoft announced it was kicking off a massive, 15-month "Start Something" campaign. Apple fans quickly noted that the metadata for the ad image Microsoft had posted to its press Web site appeared to have been created using the Mac version of Photoshop.

Many Mac die-hards were already seeing red over similarities between Microsoft's still-in-early-development Longhorn and Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, which goes on sale next week.

Microsoft Windows communications director Debbie Anderson told CNET News.com on Wednesday that "it wouldn't be surprising" if some of the work on the campaign was done on Macintoshes.

"In the graphic design industry I would expect creative design work is done on Macs as well as PCs," she said, adding that many different outside agencies and partners worked on the "Start Something" effort. "I'm sure many of them use Macs, many of them use PCs and many of them use both."

I wouldn't be surprised either. Most designers are idiots and only use Macs because they "are better for design." Macs are the industry standard.

Why would Mac fans have a problem with this? If they generally like Mac OS'es better than wouldn't it be good to incorporate that into PC's, from their standpoint?

    Mac moving to Intel?

I'm telling you, platforms are eventually going to merge.

I think so also - I was just quoting ..

Many at microsoft claim that many features of longhorn , long long in beta testing showed up in Tiger in fact.. MS should be glad really in a way..

It is true that linux, windowsX and OS-X are all converging and will end up on the same platform ...

I've noticed this for years. You can typically see Dells with pictures of Mac versions of IE in the Best Buy ads and stuff like that. Or comcast on a Gateway system with a picture of IE on a mac in OS 9. It's very typical.

Or in the past the absence of IE altogether when most ads featured Netscape even when IE was the predominant browser.
