I am considering buying a Pioneer DVR-109 and installing it in an external firewire case that I already own.
Does anyone have any "be carefuls" or "gotchas" or any other things to look out for when using a DVD burner such as the Pioneer DVR-109 in an external firewire box?
Or is it even recommended?
I would rather not install it internally at this time, so I would just like to hear about the external firewire issues from anyone who may have had experience.
Thanks.

I have a 109 in an FW case. Don't turn on or restart your computer with the FW case on. It will fry its circut boards. I've done this 3 times. Make sure its off and then turn on the computer.

That's good to know. It's interesting that I have had a DVD-ROM in this case for over a year now, and purely by accident or blind luck, I have never done power on in that sequence. Nevertheless, it is good to know that I should avoid it.
