I have a Hitachi 730A DVD camcorder. I am now trying to transfer the video over to my HD for editing purposes. I am also using Studio MediaSuite for my editing but I am getting and error message when I try to acquire the video. I have also tried to import the video via DVD drive, but the drive does not recgognize the disk. Keeps asking me to insert the disk in the drive. The camcorder came with a S/Video composite wire that I connected to my video card(Radeon 9600 Pro) but I am wondering from using an analog years ago if i would need to purchase something like Dazzle DVClip. Any suggestions or directions to a forum that can help me. Thanks in advance.

That would be the way to do it, using analog to acquire it would rsult in quality loss. You don't want to convert to analog only to convert it back to digital.

Have you tried it in a different drive on another computer? Computer drives will read just about anything, it's rare that they don't but I guess anything is possible.

    What's the error?

The error message from Studio says that it is trying to acquire from Port 1394, and then goes on explaining how to acquire analog. My DVD drive asks me to insert the disk, when it is already in there. My DVD burner drive says improper function.

They are supposed to be playable, as I said try it in another player. Might just be you have an incompatible player.
