  1. I have an emachine that came with a restore Cd.Ive used it 2 or 3 times to restore the friggin' OS.It reinstalls everything! All the stupid "click here for offers" links and SH*T like that.I DONT WANT THAT.It takes forever to remove that crap.My question is,is there anyway to extract the windows OS from the friggin' Cd and still be able to burn the extracted O/S (without all that other crap) to another cd?!? Thanks in Advance!

  2. ...I have an emachine etower500ix.

OS was installed from C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS. You should be able to create a copy of this directory (would be safe to start at OPTIONS).

I only use the RestoreCD for device drivers (modem, soundcard, video).

  3. I got a com from e-machines... the only thing left is the processor

Anyway. the restore CD is made with norton ghost, if you pick up a copy of this you can extract the image and hack it, though for your needs your better off making two patitions, restoring to one of them... then make all your changes and ghost the drive to the second partition. You can make a new restore CD of all this if you wish.

  4. I have the E-Machines 500is. I have saved out the Cab files from the C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS directory to CD and use that is the 'windows' cd. Works for doing new, clean installs too!
