problems adding subtitles when authoring dvd

this is the first dvd that i have authored that i have tried to add subtitles to and it's not exactly going according to plan.

i'm using DVDauthorGUI and when i author the dvd without subtitles it works fine, unfortunately i don't speak korean so the subtitles are quite essential whenever i add the subtitle file and author the file DVDauthorGUI brings up an error message and tells me to read the log, which to my untrained eye may aswell be in korean as well.

the file was in avi format originally so i used one the guides on videohelp to convert it to mpeg, i don't know if that makes any difference.

What type of subtitle are you using? It should be a text based subtitle, like srt. The error is occuring when the gui is trying to multiplex the subtitle into the title.

I am seeing another problem(s) also, although i don't know if this would effect the subtitle problem. You are using a 720x480 mpeg1 file, at 23.976. I am not sure if you are allowed to use that in the dvd standard, let alone add subtitles to it. For that matter, you wouldn't be able to apply pulldown to that either. I highly recommend using mpeg2 for this.

does it author when u dont use subtitles...i doubt it since it cant find the file

I would do that to the original file. If you leave it as 23.976, be sure to apply pulldown on it.

After reviewing the problem a bit more, I noticed that you are using windows ME. How much hard drive space do you have? You will need appx twice the size of the dvd project. Also, since you are using a fat32 based system, you will need to keep your titles 2 gig and under.

That file doesn't exist because spumux failed to mux the subtitle with the stream
