I am happy to have found this web site! First of all I have to ask, what is Warez?
Now for my important questions. I just bought my first DVD burner and I'm trying out the trial version of Ulead's Video Studio 9. I'm not too impressed at this point as the software doesn't flow like you would expect. I've used Movie Maker for burning movies to CD, but I'm trying to make the transition to DVD.
With Video Studio I've encountered several problems, like converting wmv files. The conversion fails almost every time without a meaningful error msg. My Dad has version 8 and I noticed his came with more templates. I'm sure they are available in the purchased version of VS. Can anyone here direct me to some good sites for free templates or add ons for this software.
The main question, what applications are your favorite for making movies? I understand that Premier is a high level application, but I don't believe I need something that high end. Thanks for your help!!

A lot of us tend to use multiple programs to convert files to DVD. I use Virtualdub a lot, has many functions, can also frameserve to an encoder. Very good program to become familiar with. For encoding I use TMPGEnc encoder most of the time, sometimes Mainconcept. For authoring, I've only used TMPGEnc DVD Author because it does what I want.
Ulead and some of the other programs when they try to be a one stop solution don't do well, IMO. I have found the best way is to learn the different video tools and select the ones needed for a particular job. Fortunately, there's a lot of free ones out there, so cost is not the biggest problem.
You probably have a freebie version of Ulead, so I wouldn't judge the manufacturer from a crippled version of their software.
If you are converting WMV, go to the left <<<< and look in 'Convert'. There are a lot of good guides there. I'm afraid there's no easy answer if you want quality, you have to read, study and ask questions when you are stuck.
EDIT: reboot was ahead of me, but his programs are a very good start. -
If you look in My Computer on the drive you installed VS too ?prgram files\ulead\videstudio\templates\<insert template category>? <---------not exactly sure if that's the path exactly but it's something like that. You'll find .ufo files, these are the menu templates, you can copy the ones from your Fathers drive to yours. Same with Ulead Movie Factory.
One note about WMV, if the WMV file was created via capture or from a DV cam don't use the WMV file as your source. Recapture or transfer from digital cam to AVI or mpeg if possible.
