I'm trying to extract audio from an xvid file as wave, but I keep getting an error notifying me that "no decompressor could be found." When I look at the file information, the audio properties report "unknown (tag 2000)." I just got a new computer and I thought I updated all of the audio codecs but perhaps I missed something. I would appreciate any help that can be offered.

Open your file in GSpot or AVICodec and see if they recognise what the audio is, or that you have the codec. Virtualdub is telling you that you don't.
If in doubt, Google it. -
I can't believe I made this mistake, but it turns out that while I downloaded the AC-3 codec I didn't install it. Oops, sorry folks. Thanks to those who helped anyway.
P.S.- Sorry for cross posting.
