Can anybody recommend a way on how to convert MKV/OGM to Xvid/Divx. I have already read the following guide:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1018674#1018674

Are there any other ways or one click programs?

    Thanks.

mkv and ogm can contain xvid or divx. do you want to convert to avi with divx/xvid or mkv or ogm with divx/xvid?

First off, MKV and OGM are just containers. They may well contain XviD or DivX video streams. I assume you're looking to convert MKV/OGM to AVI. In doing so you may possibly lose subtitles if they aren't hardcoded into the video.

I'm pretty sure you can just open the MKV/OGM in VirtualDubMod and then just do a Save As... to get an AVI file. Be sure video is set to Direct Stream Copy in the Save As... dialog box.

    Hope this helps.

I've never tried a command line proggy. I will give it a try.

VirtualDubMod hasn't been updated in awhile. As such it won't work with all mkv's.

Another usefull app would be mkvextract. Also ogmdemuxer.

  7. DivX is also the name of the hacked avi file of the DivX networks. They say that it's different from avi (it's the same for audio and video, but it includes a RIFF for the menu).
