Is installing windows XP Pro on your laptop while driving to work a bad thing to do? I have a 35 minute drive and it was done when I got to work. The hard part was typing in the key and adjusting the time and date while driving.

  2. How bumpy was the ride?
If the computer works don't sweat it.
If you hit a pot hole along the way while it was writing to the hard drive, it may fail sooner then normal.

I run my laptop in my van alot, no problems yet.

Do you have one of those "Hows my driving...call (number here)" sign on the back of the truck.

I wonder how many people called.

To make matters worse, I have 320,000 miles on the truck so the steering is sloppy anyway. I must have been swirving all over the place. hehe

ok. now that you have successfully loaded WinXP on the laptop, make a ghost image tonight and put it on a bootable cd/dvd. make sure you put the ghost command and all necessary switches in your autoexec.bat file.

If you ever feel the need to reload your laptop again on the way to work you can just pop the cd in and it will take care of the rest..you should have a freshly loaded system in about 10 minutes.

Actually I did just that. I don't want to go through the hassle of resintalling everything and adjusting XP to my liking so I made a image of my fresh clean install.
