  1. Having a little trouble with Nero Recode (2.2.6.16).

On several occasions it has severely (miscalculated?) DVD-5(4.7GB).

I get no errors, alarms, warnings, or any indication of a problem. BUT

My written DVD has the entire movie on it (very pixelated when viewed) but only (approx) half the DVD capacity was written to. There is a good INCH from the outer edge of the disk that is not used.

This is so intermittent that I never know what I'm gonna get until I pull the DVD out of the writer when it's done. Crapola!

Has anyone experienced this type of issue with Nero? Could this be a problem with the analysis?

I have quit using Recode due to this problem, but would like to find out what the heck is going on.

Not a solution but a suggestion, have you tried writing to HD insted of DVD??? You can check results before burning. I always check results w/ Nero Showtime 1st then I burn

  3. Well...

I think I solved my own problem but does not shed any light on the "WHY".

I managed to find what I "think" was causing my problem. In the directory,

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ahead\Nero Recode

I found what appeared to be about a zillion analysis files or something. I really HATE these behind the scenes, hidden directories, that store crap that you cant find without a certified bloodhound.

Not sure, but I wiped NERO from my system, re-installed/updated and so far, my tests have been successful.

Like I said, I have no clue what, why or how NERO ended up this way, but so far so good. I fully expect this situation to happen again as I have no root cause.

  4. Remember what craiggus365 said though, encode to your hard drive first and then you can check the results instead of wasting your time making coasters.
