I think it may be a driver problem. Try either:
Restrating your PC
Using your Win XP CD to re-install the driver from Control Panel (where you see the exclamation marks) double click on that, go to the driver tab, and update or re-install the driver. -
yeah i thoguth it would be a driver prob, too but i cant find any online, the restart thing didnt work, im gonna try that the XP cd thing, thanks
that is if i can find my Win XP CD :P

Sorry, i think that skipped my mind
Try this approach:
Disconnect the cable of your drives, switch PC on, shut down again, connect the cables back on, and hopefully, when you start your pc again, the drives should be auto-dectected by Win XP. -
well my drives are internal, how do i disconnect their cables? thanks

Windows has the problem with the drive, not DO. Boot to your CD. If you're getting a "Device Cannot Start (Code 10/19)" search google for "Delete Upper and Lower Filters".

I meant DOS, my keyboard sticks. The error will be inDevice Manager, right click on My Computer and go to Properties-->Hardware-->Device Manager. The drives should be listed with an exclamation point over them. Double click on the drive and it should say something similar. Search google for the error code, it will take you to a microsoft support page with a knowledge base article. You will have to edit the registry, be careful. Most likely your recording software screwed something up.
