  1. I have a mpeg movie which i've down loaded, i have TMPGEnc dvd author and i would like to convert this file onto dvd.

When i click add new file in TMPGEnc and pick the file i want i get a box opens saying

The Video framerate 23.976 fps cannot be used for a standard dvd

    and

A video sequence header is nescessary for every GOP in a standard dvd.

I've tried using Isobuster to extract the mpeg file but then when i try to open it in TMPGEnc it says

This is an illegal video file for standard dvd use Mpeg video 1 or 2

    Thanks in advance

  2. Has the file been encoded to MPEG2 yet and I take it been as you are from the UK like me you want to use PAL which should be 25fps and the resolution of the file should be PAL also: 720x576 or 352x576 or 352x288.
Obviously the MPEG file you have is not encoded properly, thats why TMPGEnc DVD Author wont accept it.

  3. Ok

    I've tried again

    i've got three videos

one from a VCD which i've convert to DVD
one from a DVD Ram which i've converted to DVD
and one file i download which was an mpeg but is now a DVD
I want to put them all on the same dvd and create chapters, menu's etc

When i try to open each file (on its own) and author them in TMGEnc DVD author i dont get any of the above errors

However when i try to open one file and then add another dvd video file then the error appears.

should i be able to add all these files and then author them, or is this not possible?

  4. I have successfully added MPG1 video files (352x240) with a framerate of 23.976 to a DVD. I patched the framerate to 29.97 and then added into TMPGEnc DVD Author and it works like a champ! Just make sure you patch the vob's back to 23.976 in the VIDEO_TS folder. Give it a shot and let me know! Try an RW first.

Try putting each one in a seperate track. The first video you place on a track sets the standard for that track. Any additional videos put in the same track must match exactly or you will get the error message. This includes differences in audio.

Try what gadgetguy suggested(The files can have different properties) if you add each video as a different track.)
There is no reason why you cant put all 3 videos onto the DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author as long as they are all Mpeg2(DVD Compliant files) and have the same properties. If some of the video files properties are different and you add them into the same track,TMPGEnc DVD Author will give an error message.

    Good luck!

  7. Thanks gadgetguy.

That looks like to works fine i have put all the videos i want on to the dvd the only problem i have is that one of the files is NTSC and the rest arePAL so TMPGEnc wont let me out put the files on to my hard drive.

I am trying to sort out this now, any ideas?

You can't have PAL and NTSC on the same disc in TMPGEnc DVD Author AFAIK. You could try using DVDPatcher to give the NTSC file PAL headers, and see if TDA accepts it then. Then you'd need to patch the affected VOB(s) back to NTSC before burning. Either that or convert the NTSC file to PAL.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. Or use another authoring software

  10. You just need to make sure that the video files properties are as I mentioned in my first reply to you and that if your putting them all onto the same DVD,that they have the same resolution, bitrates,Standard(PAL) ect... The easiest thing to do is make a profile and save it into your encoder, with your preferred settings and use the profile to encode all the video files that are going to be burnt onto the same DVD disc.
By the way if you convert the NTSC file into PAL with most software, the video will come out choppy on playback due to the lost frames.
