I stopped using printables after ProdiscF1's started to ship (i was so happy w/ the older prodiscs!) Anyway.. what should i buy now. Im looking for QUALITY and as cheap as possible. Id love TYs but not at a 1$ a disc. My burner is still 4x so lower speeds are fine.
Thanks in advance!

If you are having a problem with Prodisc, I more than strongly suspect that its that arcane burner of yours. When it was designed, there was no such thing as the media that you are attemping to use. Many OLDER burners are not even being actively supported with firmware upgrades by the manufacturers any more because they are considered to be outdated. If your burner doesn't know anything about the write strategy required for the media you are trying to use and has to use a default strategy that may not even be close to what is needed, how is supposed to write it properly!? Why don't you just donate that burner of yours to a museum or a charitable organization and buy something that will do the job. To use your word, new burners are really "cheap" now. The only relevent word in your question is "older". Did you ever try to run a kerosene lamp on electricity? If you long for the the "good OLD days", go buy some kerosene, don't gripe about that "no good" electricity. I have a Pioneer 108 and 109 and the recording results are very good on the very same media you are asking about.

Thats probably not the problem, since I also stopped using the Prodisc white hub printables due to read errors. I have a hp300i that they wouldn't work with. I then changed to VERBATIM and have never had a problem again. I had ordered 5 different stacks of the Prodisc from mediasuperstore, and all gave me problems when burning. I know own both the hp300i and the benq1620 and have not a a single problem using the VERBATIM. I tried 2 of the Prodiscs that I decide to keep (after returning all 5 of the stackes), just to try them on a new burner when I finally decided to get one. Both still had an enormous amount of read errors, and wouldn't even let me rip/transfer the newly recorded dvd back to my HD. So after using the VERBATIMS, I would highly recomend them to anyone. Yeah they are a little more expensive than the cheaper media, but you get what you pay for.

The pioneer a06 was the highest rated burner at the time I bought it. Im just asking for a good media code to look for. Im not gonna take the time to bump all the threads on how bad PRODISCF01 PRINTABLES were/are, there were plenty and many were very long threads. PRODISCF01 nonprintables seem to be fine. I highly doubt its my burner. Next week im getting the 3520a, but i still dont want to use prodiscf01s as they seem to be crap.
If anyone else has an opinion on whats a good/and moderately inexpensive <$1 hub printable disc let me know.
Ill check out the verbatims at Supermediastore... THX! -
I still use FINODISC which are full faced printables. 8x are 100 for $32. I have burned over 1000. My last big project sold 300 DVD's all burned and labeled using finodiscs. www.finodisc.com. I have posted the media code before, you should be able to find them if you do a search on my name...
I have burned them using my 4 pioneer 108's, sony dru500, nec2510 and my a pioneer 107 that I had for a month..
good luck.. -
You can get TY 8X hub printables for around .59 each at rima.com: http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1760-100
Stick with TY and don't go for the cheap stuff as you'll only end up paying more when the inevitable freezing/stuttering pop up after awhile. -
I use TY hub printables for important stuff and master copies. For other non-essentials and give-aways, I use Ridata/Ritek hub printables. I haven't had any problems with Ridata/Ritek printables - some users even report the printing results are superior to TY.

Just my 2 cents. -
I'm using Verbatim photo-printable 16x even though my burner only supports 8x. No problems so far and that includes difficult titles that wouldn't play on some machines previously.

I've had bad luck with Verb -R printables (8x, 16x) on my Pioneer A06. My other burners love Verbs. TY's work well, as do Maxell's. The Maxell's don't burn with the awesome quality of the TY's, but they have a better print surface (IMO).

Prodisc was great until S04's came out. They sucked. I've never bought Prodisc since.
