Project 1 is a problem (I helped my brother get rid of it last night). I would recommend you start by getting RegSeeker from Hover Systems (free) and HijackThis (also free). Here are some download links. They both make backups so you can't get in too much trouble.

Run them both in Safe Mode. -

Sorry Tabit, I was able to get rid of it using HijackThis, Spybot, and Ad-Aware run in Safe Mode. Perhaps you have a different and more difficult version of Project 1.
Start by using Add/Remove programs to uninstall any new programs you've installed, or that you don't recognize. Especially get rid of any Toolbars or Search programs. After that:
Make absolutely sure you are running in Safe Mode and that all of the above programs are updated with current definitions files. You should also turn off System Restore if it's on. You should also make sure that ALL unknown programs that are starting up (use RegSeeker to find out what programs are starting) are deleted from the Startup Menu in RegSeeker. You can restore them later using RegSeeker if you have to. Sometimes it's actually another file that's creating Project 1.
The only other solution is fairly dangerous and involves editing the registry by doing a scan (Find) on Project 1. If you're not comfortable with that you should not try it. IF you do then make sure you Export the Registry first so you can restore it later if you have to. If you're not comfortable working with the registry then I would do it as a last resort before you format and reload Windows.
