Panasonic DMR-E85H made disc not playing elsewhere

A friend recorded something (QLD Vs NSW State Of Origin football match) on his DMR-E85H and when he finished it said it had to final the recording. He did this but the disc won't play anywhere but on his DMR-E85H.
Is there something else he needs to do on the can you please click on Panny to get the disc working elsewhere ?

Sounds as if it wasn't finalized.

He's seems to think it said it was finalising when he stopped the recording. see how we go!

I suspect your friend is confusing a screen that comes up with Panasonics after a recording is done with finalizing.

Here is the screen that come up automatically when a recording is done. It shows progress numbers in %. This is not the finalizing screen.



Finalizing does not happen automatically. It has to be manually started and takes at least two to four minutes. Here is the finalizing screen,
