  1. I finally bought quality DVD+Rs (Fujifilm T02), but now I can't seem to get bitsetting turned on. When I try using CDSpeed to bitset, the program gives me an error saying that bitsetting failed. My firmware is Herrie's 1.08v3.

    Thanks in advance,
    -Jonathan.

Try getting The Dangerous Brother's NEC WInBtype utility. Go to http://tdb.rpc1.org (it was and may still be down) and use that. Your NEC 2500 is also a NEC 2510, you can a new firmware that allows +R DL burning with bitsetting. If you cn't reach the page, PM me tomorrow with your email address and I'll shoot it over to you.

You can only bitset +R DL disks with the 2500A and 2510A, even with the last firmware Herrie produced.

I have gotten bitsetting to work with one of Herrie's firmware and either TDB's or DVDInfoPro's bitsetting utility, but I can't remeber which. I did send him over The Dangerous Brothers' 2XX0 firmware which enabled it with no problems.

You could also try loading Maddog MegaSTOR 8X DVD±RW (MD-8XDVD9 - NEC ND-2510A OEM) firmware. Get the latest in here: http://mdmm.com/drivers/OpticalDrives/8XDVD9_FW_2F9.exe

Flash your drive with Binflash Win32 v1.16 that you could find in this page: http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/

After the flash you could configure your drive with Maddog BookType Management Utility: http://www.mdmm.com/drivers/OpticalDrives/WinBTypeV2.exe
    Instructions: http://www.mdmm.com/support/docs/WinBType%20Guide.pdf
